runaway girl

It was the beginning of my last year in Highschool which is 4 years ago when my bestfriend lend me (actually it was her boyfriend’s) an amazing album of Norma Jean: O, God The Aftermath. I played it in my tape over and over again. I never turned it back to the owner for it’s too great in my ears until I lost ‘em, the only thing remain was the album package (fffuuu!!!).

Norma Jean is a Mathcore/Christian-metalcore band from Atlanta, US. They were originally known as Luti-Kriss (the band changed their name to Norma Jean to avoid confusion with rapper Ludacris). Their original vocalist Josh Scogin, left Norma Jean right after their 1^st album , Bless The martyr Kiss The Child released and temporarily replaced by Brad Norris, who was then replaced by Cory Brandan. Josh Scogin went to start The Chariot, another great mathcore band that I listen to. they released  five studio album as Norma Jean and  one as Luti-Kriss.

Their music always great to me, but I have my favorite albums like O, God The Aftermath (2005) and The Anti Mother (2008). I really wanted to see their live performance so bad but they never came to Indonesia until now. I always ask to some Indonesian promoter to bring ‘em up via twitter but no response (should I listen to mainstream bands to see their live performance in Indonesia?) so one day, purevolume set up a quiz with a pair of Norma Jean’s ticket concert as a prize:

The rule were simple, just retweet their tweet about the quiz and choose the date of the concert you want to win. I chose The Masquerade, Atlanta on December 16^th, why? Because Atlanta is their original place. It was 3 am in the morning and I tried to participate cause I know I’m not gonna win. And after a couple of minutes I tweeted to pure volume…something popped up in my head “what if I win the tickets?impossibruuuu!!”

December 11^th, Pure Volume DM’d me:

“what thefffffff…” I won the tickets!!! I was really really happy and sad at the same time. Because I am in Indonesia and the concert was in the US! I’m not drunk while I did this, I was super sober when I chose the date of the concerts and I know it was in the US, all of them!

So I did email my info to Purevolume and he replied back: “Wait, are you in the US and coming to the show?” and I answered it in my head “no, I’m In Indonesiaaaaaaa”

So I replied back, tell them I was not in the US unless they gave me accommodation and said I only participate because I was desperately wanted to see their live performance but they never came to Indonesia. But they never replied back… I know, I’m stupid. I should’ve know it was for US resident only eventhough they didn’t mentioned it. I’ve tried to do such things, tried my luck in some quiz but I never won so I thought…okay…

Kids, don’t try this at home unless u wanted ur friends to call u stupid. 

Anyway, thanks for being awesome, Norma Jean! always looking forward for ur next album :D
